What You Get on Every Prompt Card
Each card shows the real Gemini output for that prompt, so you can check the look before you copy it. Results vary by photo and Gemini version, so treat each preview as a guide.
So before you copy anything, you can see what the prompt makes. If you like the preview, copy the prompt. If you want a change, edit one detail and try again.
What You Get on Every Prompt Card
- A preview image showing the output we got from that exact prompt.
- The full prompt text, so you can read it before you copy it.
- An Expert Insight that explains why the prompt works.
- Copy and Use in Gemini buttons so you can start in one tap.
Why Short, Specific Prompts Work Better
Many people add words like
stunning,
8K and
masterpiece. These words describe quality, not what the camera sees, so they often give Gemini little to work with. They can also push results toward a smooth, airbrushed look. Specific details about fabric, light and framing usually help more.
Describe the shot like a photographer instead. Our prompts follow this order:
- Subject and framing: close-up, waist-up or full-body.
- Outfit and fabric: color, shape and material, such as emerald silk slip dress.
- Hands and props: one clear action, such as holding a small cake with one candle.
- Background: the surface in front and the blurred scene behind.
- Light: where it comes from and how warm it is.
A Quick Before and After
Weak: "A beautiful woman on her birthday in a nice red dress with a cake, ultra HD, cinematic."
Better: "Waist-up portrait of a woman in a crimson velvet off-shoulder gown, smiling and holding a white cake with gold "25" candles. Soft candlelight on her face, warm lamp light behind her, natural skin texture."
The second prompt names the fabric, the light and the single number in the scene. That leaves less for Gemini to guess.
How to Keep Your Own Face
Our prompts start with a short line such as
"My face should be the same as my uploaded image." This tells Gemini to use your photo as the face reference. Gemini creates a new image, so it is not a perfect face swap. Small changes can still happen.
- Remove clashing details. If your photo has shoulder-length brown hair, delete any line asking for long black hair.
- Match the angle. A straight-on selfie works best with front-facing prompts.
- Use soft, even light in your reference photo.
- Upload only photos you have permission to use. Avoid photos that show addresses or documents.
South Asian Birthday Looks: Saree, Lehenga and Shalwar Kameez
"Traditional dress" is too vague. Name the fabric and the embroidery, and Gemini has much more to work with. These are the phrases we use in our cards:
- Saree: dusty rose tissue silk saree with a silver gota patti border
- Lehenga: ivory organza lehenga with pearl and resham embroidery
- Shalwar kameez: emerald raw silk shalwar kameez with a draped chiffon dupatta
- Settings: sandstone courtyard haveli, brass lanterns, marigold garlands, candlelit terrace
Warm settings suit embroidery best. Harsh flash or cold neon light tends to make it look flat.
Camera and Lens Hints
Gemini does not use real camera settings. It reads these terms as looks, so use them as hints, not exact controls.
- 85mm lens, wide aperture: soft blurred background, flattering face portraits.
- 50mm lens: natural, everyday portrait with a bit more of the room.
- 35mm lens: casual, candid scenes and cafés.
- Direct on-camera flash: bold night-out or editorial look.
- Rim light from behind: a glowing edge around hair and shoulders.
Write the Aspect Ratio in Plain Words
Some prompt sites end with
--ar 4:5. That is Midjourney syntax. In Gemini, write the shape in plain words at the end of your prompt:
- Vertical 9:16 for Reels, Stories and TikTok.
- Vertical 4:5 portrait for Instagram feed posts.
- Wide 16:9 for banners and YouTube thumbnails.
Gemini may not match the ratio exactly. If it misses, crop the image or try again.
Fixing Common Problems
If the result is almost right, do not start over. Send a short follow-up that changes one thing.
- Wrong candle number: mention the age once and ask Gemini to correct only the candles.
- Neon party-store balloons: name a finish and palette, such as matte cream, blush and champagne-gold balloons.
- Plastic-looking skin: add natural skin texture, no heavy retouching and remove words like "flawless".
- Face looks different: shorten the prompt, keep the face line at the start and try another reference photo.
- Milestone birthdays: put the age in one place only. Use the builder above to swap it quickly.
Bonus: Turn Your Portrait Into a Short Reel
If you use a tool that can animate photos, try this motion prompt on your finished portrait:
"Animate this birthday portrait. She smiles, leans forward and gently blows out the candles. The flames flicker out with a thin trail of smoke. Soft warm light, slow camera push-in, natural movement. 5 seconds, vertical 9:16."
